Burmese Delight Food Cart in Portland
About us
About Burmese Delight
We opened our first food cart in the Hawthorne Asylum Pod in early 2019.
In June 2020, we opened our second food cart at the Lot, located at SE 50th & Division.
Traditional Burmese food is delicious and has its own identity. Although it shares some ingredients from its neighboring Thailand, India, China and Laos, the authentic way of preparing food makes Burmese cuisines flavorful and unique. Everyone who has tried Burmese Food appreciates its scrumptious taste. And yet Burmese food is lesser-known compared to cuisines from Vietnam, Thailand and India.
We would love our traditional food to be well known and enjoyed by many. The Burmese Delight features traditional Burmese cuisines from various regions of the country and is trying the best to promote and present the delicious authentic Burmese food with high quality and excellent customer service.
The Art of Eating Burmese Food
Burmese Delight Chef Aye Hlaing
Rice is a staple food for Burmese people and we eat rice three times a day. Regular Burmese lunch/dinner includes rice with meat curry, veggie salad or sauteed veggie, steamed veggie/leaves with nga-pi-yay (A mixture of fish sauce/paste with dried shrimp powder, chili powder, lime juice and grind garlic) and soup. Here in Portland, a lot of my customers asked me what should they do with the soup we provide or how to eat the combo plate with soup? So here is HOW: take a little piece of curried meat and eat together with rice, chew well 😊 than take a sip of the Soup!
